- Technical expert providing technical assistance through investigation, reporting and communication on technical issues related to maintenance and product improvement to ensure adherence to OEM standards and customer requirements.
- Providing technical expert assistance to business and customers
- Provide technical information to business for effective repair, service and maintenance of earthmoving equipment components
- Assist Quality to developed Cat Inspect condition checklists for BRC components.
- Assist with warranty claim process and validation
- Compile failure / condition reports to conform to BRC quality standards
- Ensure component repairs have the latest service letter/literature updates (Key focus)
- Analysis, reporting and resolution of product health and issues
- Assist in Service-related Projects
- Resolve general technical queries internal and supplier related.
- Gather relevant data to support failure / condition reports
- Create SIMS reports for all repairs
- Timeous, accurate and factual reporting of information
- Support technical representatives with technical decision making
- Accountable to apply appropriate technology for gathering relevant data for reporting
- Effective self-management and performance ownership
- Drive Individual Development action plan
- Utilise appropriate technology to develop own competence e.g. Cat DPC, etc.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
• Qualified Technician in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic)]
• >3 years post qualification experience in field service, workshop or component rebuild environment
• Component experience will be an added advantage
• Applied failure analysis Level 1 & 2 will be added advantage
• Computer literacy (MS Office and applicable Caterpillar Software, Cat Inspect, SIS, ET, VIMS, etc)
• Understanding the warranty process and reporting of data to Caterpillar
• SOS interpretation will be an added advantage
