Key Output

• Technical Expert in testing and troubleshooting of Caterpillar components.
• Perform Dynamometer and Test bench performance test on components to ensure components build to Caterpillar specifications.
• Testing, troubleshooting and repair of Caterpillar components.
• Prepare tested components for paint and dispatch.
• Perform failure root cause analysis.
• Quickly and efficiently diagnose CAT systems and carry out repairs.
• Compile accurate component analysis, report, and correct on all technical issues identified.
• Control and maintain test equipment.
• Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Engine Inspection Reports (MIR’s) and Technical Analysis Reports (TA’s).
• Ability to perform planned and breakdown repairs (Disassemble, inspect, assemble and test) Caterpillar Earthmoving components to OEM standards and customer requirements.
• Ability to ensure reusability of parts during inspection.
• Comply and execute on company contamination control standards.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained (ISO Standards).
• Comply to OEM and supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures.

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) NQF 3

• Minimum 5 years post qualification experience on earthmoving machines (Minimum 4 years Caterpillar experience)

• Minimum of 5 years Earthmoving equipment component rebuild, analyse and test (3 year on Caterpillar equipment).

• Minimum 2 years’ experience on Dynameters and Hydraulic/Transmission test benches.

• Applicable fundamental product knowledge (Caterpillar).

• Caterpillar Machine specific technical knowledge and skills (Caterpillar Certification an advantage)

• Technical Expert in testing and troubleshooting of Caterpillar components.

• Sound trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.

• Good technical report writing skills.

• Good Computer Literacy (SIS, STW & ET) knowledge, Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

• Sound interpersonal communication skills.

• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills.

• Basic finance and business understanding.

• Problem solving and analysis, Customer relationship.

• Sound understanding of OEM and supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures
