Position Outputs

  • Gather relevant data to support failure / condition reports
  • Compile failure / condition reports to conform to BRC quality standards
  • Create SIMS reports for all repairs
  • Provide technical representatives with sufficient information to complete the root cause analysis process
  • Utilise appropriate technology to develop own competence e.g. Cat DPC, etc.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failed components and parts
  • Advise and assist in failure analysis outcomes
  • Develop expertise in analysing failures by coaching
  • Analyse and record failures and final results captured in database
  • Compile informative failure analysis reports and feedback to all relevant parties
  • Provide expert technical support for Warranty resolution
  • Ensure proper implementation and using of parts reusability guidelines
  • Ensure effective self-management and performance ownership

Minimum Required Qualification

• Qualified Artisan. [Mechanic in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic)]
• >3 years post qualification experience in field service, workshop or component rebuild environment
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in rebuilding of transmissions, drivetrain and hydraulic components.
• Troubleshooting experience will be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy (MS Office and applicable Caterpillar Software, e.g. SIS, ET, VIMS, Scrap Barrel Analysis, etc)
• Completion of applied failure analysis courses (AFA 1 & 2)
• SOS interpretation will be an added advantage
