Key Outputs

  • Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
  • Carry out Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA’s) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
  • Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
  • Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
  • Maintain and work according to BWE Contamination Standards
  • Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
  • Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
  • Ensure safe work practice

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12
• Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Good technical report writing
• Basic business and financial understanding
• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW and ET) knowledge
• Good trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
• Applicable product knowledge
• Drivers licence – Code B
• Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of ISO Quality systems
• Knowledge and implementation of Contamination Control principles
